There are several species of wild birds here in Ireland. The ones we know best are the robin, thrush, blackbird, wren, lark, sparrow, linnet, pigeon, crow, starling, bald-coote, tom-tit, martin, jack-daw,magpie, hawk, jay, chaffinch, goldfinch, bull-finch, water, hen, swan, crane, cormorant, wild duck, diver, teal, curlew and sea gull.
There are also several migratory birds which we know well. Some of those visit us in Summer others in winter. The sallow, cuckoo, corn-crake, may-bird and willie - wagtail come to remain with us in Summer.
The plover, diver, starling and snipe come in Winter.
