There is a rath in my home district. It is situated in Mr. John Ryan's farm of Clorinka. If you went up to the top of the rath you could see another rath in Gaulstown. It is shaped like a circle, and is fenced in with stones and bushes. There is a hole in the middle of it. The Danes are supposed to have built the raths. The reason why the Danes built them was to protect themselves from the Irish.
Mr. John Ryan of Clorinka, saw a woman gathering sticks and after a while she disappeared. A man was coming down the rath when a black cat came out of it. The man put the dog after the cat. The cat killed the dog. As Michael Coogan, Muckalee was coming home from work one evening, he saw a spirit outside the rath. As Mrs. Dwyer of Coon was going home one night, she heard music and dancing when she was passing the rath. There was a man coming home for Kilkenny one night. He went into a house, which was in Mr. John Ryan's rath. When he went in he saw a woman washing clothes. She pointed to the door and he went out. Then he looked behind him and the house had disappeared.
