  1. Old Cures
    Colds - Put sugar between two slices of turnip and leave on a saucer all night. The juice that comes out is a great cure.
    Sore eyes - Bathe with cold tea.
    Cold on the chest - goose grease spread on brown paper and put on the chest will cure a cold on the chest.
    Chilblains - people rubbed on lamp oil to cure them.
    Pain in the side - Heat a plate before the fire, wrap it in flannel and apply it to the part where the pain is most severe: when the plate cools, apply another heated one.
