  1. There was a hunt in Moyvoughley about sixty years ago. My grandfather was present at it. It was the South Westmeath hounds, There was a river which the horses had to cross. They all jumped except one horse. His rider said to my grandfather. "Is there a good bottom any where that I could get out." Here is a place you can get out, and he pointed to this place and said you will get out here. The lad went to cross it. Just as he was in the middle of the river the horse was up to his neck. he mumped out on the bank and said, "I thought you said that there was a good bottom there, So there is. but you didn't come to it yet said my grandfather,
