  1. M mother told me a story about which she heard happened near our own house. The wood where the incident is said to have happened is still to be seen.
One day some years ago a poor woman not having any fuel went to gather sticks in this wood: the child fell asleep under a tree, but when the mother returned she could get no trace of her child.
After searching during the night the child was found still asleep next morning, under a tree in the same wood. when the child was awakened, she told her father that her own mother and a white dog had taken care of her during the night. but she could not explain what particular place she had been. The following night the mother of this little child died.
