“Once upon a time there was a boy and he used to be always out late at night.”
Once upon a time there was a boy and he used to be always out late at night. This night he was coming home about one o'clock and he met a man on the road, and the man asked him to sign his name to a paper he had, and that he would win all around him tomorrow night. The boy, foolish enough signed his name to the paper and then the man dissapeared. Next night the boy went off playing the cards and he lost in the first game. Then they began plating two shilling games, three shilling games, and four shilling and he was winning all night. When they were playing the last game, a card fell from the boy, and when he picked it up tere was a horse's hoof on the spot where the card was. The boy came on for home and the hoof followed him.
