  1. Tom Ormsby was the name of the man that ruled over Knockmore. He was a very cruel landlord. He evicted people from their homes. Some of the people that were evicted used to go to England. He used to quench their fires and throw them out. All the people used to send their children to work for him at fourpence a day. They used to pull his turnips, and cut his oats, and do a lot of work for him, as he owned a big farm. He owned a big farm at Ardagh. He used to keep a lot of servants and they used to work for nearly nothing.
