Long ago in Ballasallagh there was an old school called Mc Gawley's house. Of course this school is in ruins at present and the ruins are yet to be seen there. The pupils were seated on stools and wrote with quill pens and ink. Each pupil had to have his own little bottle of ink . There was a woman in Mount Temple and she had a lot turkeys and all the children used to her for the quills. There were two teachers in the house and they used to stop in it.
