There is a farm of land in the parish of Drumraney called Dorrington. The reason it was called that was - There was a man living there and his name was Major Dorrington. There is a big slated house in in the fields and there is a gate-house on the roadside. Major Dorrington's house was a thatched house and it was further in then the gate-house. This major Dorrington was in King James's army and he was sent over from his army to King William's to ask him to surrender on the morning of the battle of Aughrim.
