Young nettles are used sometimes as a vegetable in the Spring-time. Nettle tea is used for rheumatism. A poultice of boiled nettles is good for drawing out matter from a healing or festered sore. Nettles are also chopped up and given to turkeys.
Dandelion is another weed found on the land. The tops of the leaves are good for making danelion tea. Dandelion wine can be made from the flowers. It is very good as a medicine. The leaves of the dandelion are often used in salads, and the juice - which is like milk - is often used for curing warts.
Crowsfoot is used for cancer and sprains. A kind of ointment is made of it for cancer, and it is cut up finely and salt is sprinkled on it for sprains.
Hemlock is a poisonous plant. It is plentiful around gardens, and along fences. It grows about one foot high and it blooms in the month of May.
The land is supposed to be good also, when clover grows abundantly in it.
