- In an old well near Tyrellspass is a fine fish. Everyone tried to catch him and no one succeeded for a long time. The fish was a pike. One day a man caught him and drew him out. When the fish touched the ground instead of a pike there was a serpent, and he jumped back into the well again and was a pike once more.
In the little lake of Loughan is a whirlpool in the centre. It is said there is a sea horse there and he lives in a dark hole under the water. Anyone who interferes with the water will be dragged underneath by the horse and eaten.
