   I am the teacher of a little mixed school with only 17 on roll. 10 of these live inside the walls of an Orphanage and therefore cannot help much in this work as they have no chance of "Seanchas"

   What we have done, we have tried to do as fully as we could and it has been a great pleasure to me to do the little I have done. I think the old sayings, and customs and chats about the past - the folk lore - is of far greater value and importance than the language and people will take a far greater interest in it than in dry old Irish Grammar.

   I found the old people I questioned ready to pour out chat "go leor" with smiling faces, far away looks, and often a suspiciously moist eye. I wish I could have helped you more, but I am an uncertified middle aged teacher, struggling to maintain "Highly Efficients" (In Irish" and my evenings are swallowed with - notes corrections etc. Success attend ye.
