About 60 years ago there lived a peddlar in Tyrrellspass called Conn Carty. He travelled the country with a pony and cart selling delph especially nice jugs. He took rags, bottles, horse hair and rabbit skins in exchange & old metal.Mrs W. Payne says her father bought jugs from him & that when she left her home, Coghlan's of Arden, KIllbeggan there was of Conn Carty's Jugs there a very nice old jug with the following verse on it.Let the wealthy and great
