When the swallow was returning home he passed the serpent on the way, and just as he was passing, the serpent took a piece out of his tail, and ever after all swallows have forked tails.
The magpie is thought an unlucky bird by some people. When we see one, we say it is for good luck, and when we see two we say it is for bad luck. When the thrush sings during a storm, it is a sign that it will not last long.- Collector
