  1. There is a fort in Lynch's field, a short distance from our house. It is called Lynch's fort now. From it, can be seen three other forts. Two of them are in the townland of Quigilagh, and are said to be built by chieftains, about the ninth century.
    Lynch's fort is round, with only one ring on it. There is a lone bush in the centre of the fort, and nobody ever cut it, or even cut a branch off it.
    Many people saw fairies in it, and lovely music was heard in it at midnight. It is said, that the fairies used to go out hunting at night, and they had a football-match every night. A certain man was looking a them one moon-light night, and he had two dogs with him. The dogs ran over to the fairies, and began to bark. The dogs were near the fairies, and they turned towards them and ate them alive.
