  1. There is a treasure supposed to be hidden in a tree in Ballyhogan. The treasure was placed there by an old miser. He did not want to give his money to anyone. He bought a plant of an oak tree. He put the treasure under the ground, and planted the oak-plant on top of it. The oak grew to be a big tree. Many attempts have been made to discover this tree.
    The supposed treasure is a pot of gold, valued for about £5,000, but some say it is more.
    One night a light was seen at the tree. Two men followed it. When they came to the tree they heard loud knocks at the tree. Suddenly an old woman appeared out of the tree.
    She had fire in her eyes, and ears reaching her toes. She told them to go, or else she would pelt the pot of gold at
