  1. Long ago there lived an old man names Mike Keane in Well-Lane Rathkeale. He was an old Black Smith and was renoun by all the surrounding districts. His father was a black Smith too and was renoun also.
Mick Keane used to make all sizes of horse shoes, gates and nailings. He used to hire a man to mwork with him in making shoes early in the morning and end very late in the night. He was a very nice man to speak to and many people used love having a chat with him he was a very funny man and used to make everyone laugh.
He had a lot of tools which some of them remain in the house such as sledge, anvil, punch, tongs, cutter, bellows, hammers and vice.
The door was shaped like a horse shoe which was turned into a snall door and window about five years ago.
There was only one fire in the forge which the remains can still be seen. It is said that the water which the Black Smith uses for cooling hot irons is a good cure for healing chilblains.
