April was the month for planting mangolds and turnips and they were planted late in the evening. They used say the dew would soak the seed and the birds would be gone asleep and would not eat them. The people used sell their geese and ducks in the market every August and the farmer's with the biggest geese used get a prize such as three shillings and they(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile) - Bailitheoir
