  1. There is a lone tree on my father's farm under which a leipreachán is supposed to be at work. About forty years ago my grand-father was cutting the tree when an old priest who lived in Riverstown was passing. The priest forbade him to cut it so he left it there. On another occasion it was thrown almost thrown to the ground but it straightened again next day.
The leipreachan was often heard working with his hammer on the old fort in Ross, but nobody ever dared to interfere with him because it is no lucky.
One day as a man was passing he espied the little elf sitting on a mushroom and seizing him demanded his golden store.
Seeing that there was no escape the leipreachán told him to come there at twelve o' clock in the night and to dig under the tree near them, but he warned him to come alone.
