    The people long ago married during Shrove Week. The days supposed to be the unluckiest were Mondays and Wednesdays. On the day of the marriage the "Strawboys" would visit the house. They got this name because they dressed in straws. They were never welcomed because they had to get drink and money or they would fight.
    It was usual when there was a good-looking girl to go on horse back at night
