- The twenty seventh of December is called lá na leanbh, and whatever day it falls on, no one starts any work on that day throughout the year. On May day , no one gives away milk, or butter, or bring out iron out of the house. Whatever you do on New Year's Day you will have the luck of doing it for the year. Long ago the old people would not begin any work until Friday. It is said whatever crop is sown on Good Friday it is sure to grow. It is said anything born on Whit Sunday that it is not right to keep it, and it is not right to go near water on that day. It is said that the thirteenth of every month is an unlucky day.
We have a churn at home with five years. We churn twice a week. First the churn is cleaned and left out to dry before the churning is made. Then the cream is put into it and churned. When it is churned the butter is taken out of the churn with patters. Before it is taken out the patters and the dish where it is taken in out in are washed with boiling water, because the butter would stick to it if they were(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
