Meenaroy - The Mountain of the Red-haired ManThe legend says that a red-haired man, riding a blind horse was fleeing from the battle of Scariffaolus was shot here. The blind horse was shot under him at the foot of Meenaroy. Where the horse was shot is called Mín an Chapaill Chaoich. The name Meenaory however probably means the mountain of the red grass. The early frosts here cause the grass to turn red.
