    Potatoes are grown on my farm. There is about an acre and a half of land sown under the potatoes each year. My father prepares the ground for the potatoes. The ground is not manured any way before being turned up but when the drills are made manure is put on the sides of the drills. The potatoes are sown in ridges in gardens and in big fields they are sown in drills. The farmer ploughs the ground with a single and they he gets a harrow and it breaks the big lumps of clay and it also takes away the weeds. The drills are opened with a double plough and sometimes they are opened with a single plough. The farmer puts the manure on the side of the drills then. Before
