  1. There is an old field near my home called the Stick of blocán. There is an old story about it. It so happened that three men were coming home one night from the village of Ballynacargy very late, and crossed the Stick of blocán.
    Just as they were crossing it, there heard the cries of a child but could see nothing and they ran home terrified at what they heard.
    At the Stick of blocán there was a farmer's house, and every evening when the farmer would be putting in the cows, he would hear the child crying. So the farmers wife said she would leave a mug of milk where she heard the crying and so
