  1. One time there came a new priest to the local parish, and he was very inquisitive. It so happened that one day he was going along the road saying his office, when he came up to a garden on the side of the road. He looked in and saw a fellow digging potatoes. He stepped up on the ditch and he said to him, "What sort of potatoes are these". The fellow answered, and said "Raw ones, Father". The priest said, "You are very smart", and then asked crossly, "What is baptism". The man answered and said "A half crown before you came to the parish, and now its five shillings". So the priest went off very disgusted.
