  1. Once upon a time, two lads went at night to steal apples out of an orchard. On their way back, they had to cross through a graveyard. When they came to it they went in and sat down on a grave each and one said to the other. "What about dividing the apples", and they both agreed. They started to divide the apples, saying to each other:- "This one for you, and this one for me". As they were going into the churchyard they lost two apples. During the time they were dividing the apples, there were two other lads without at the gate listening to God and the devil dividing the souls, as they thought themselves. When they had finished they said:- "What about the two at the gate", which meant the two they lost going in.
