  2. There was a servant boy working in a certain house around here one time by the name of William Kearney. He was living in the town land of Rear Cross, parish of Kilcommon, Co. Tipperary. The woman of the house where he was working used only leave him down a small bit of butter for each meal. One morning she gave him an egg to eat and it was boiled very hard. He took one little bit out of the egg and then filled the rest up with butter. The woman of the house said to him "I believe your egg is boiled very hard". "Oh It is all right mam", said he , "I can soften it with butter". The next morning the woman of the house made sure not to boil his egg hard, so she just left down the egg boiling for half a minute and then lifted it up to him. He just took
