  1. Weather is generally judged by the appearance of the sun, moon stars, clouds and the rainbow. When the wind is from the west or south west it is the sign of rain. The west wind brings most rain. When the sea-gulls fly inland it is a sign of a coming storm. If the swallows and other birds fly low it is a sign of bad weather. If they fly high it is a sign of good weather. When the cat turns his back to the fire it is a sign of rain. When a dog eats grass it is a sign of rain. A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning.
