  1. A fasting spit is good for a boil. When a tooth falls out it is thrown over the head not to get a pain. A nail out of a graveyard is a cure for toothache. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Onions are good for corns. Boiling water and bread soda is a cure for heart-burn. A black cloth hung out on the eve of St. Brigid's Day which is the 1st of February is a cure for a headache supposed to be brought in on the feast day. Cold tea is a cure for sore eyes. A cure for a sty is to make the sign of the cross on it with a marriage ring and look through the ring. The best cure for a pain in the stomach is to make the sign of the cross on the road.
