    what was called a crane. This consisted of two pieces of timber in the shape of a T. On this hung a number of hooks of different lengths. This crane could be swung in and out to enable you to lift and put on heavy pots. The chimney was very wide and the same time it had to be cleaned, a long brush was placed on top and pulled down through it by means of a piece of rope.
