  1. A Ghost story.
Colonel Quinn, a brother of the first Earl of Dunraven was a very wicked man. He kept a pack of hounds and always followed them on a great grey steed. When the present Earl of Dunraven came to live in Adare Manor he asked about him and he was told the following story:-
One stormy night the Earl could be heard hunting through the trees in the demesne and the pack of hounds with him. The following poem was then composed about it by him.
    A Legend of Adare.
Full black and stormy grew the night,
And fast the rain did fall,
While loud among the forest trees,
    The northern wind did roar.
