    said that he saw him before his mother and that he came round the abbey from the other side.
    The old people of Adare used to tell of a Franciscan being seen in his brown habit walking round the abbey, but this woman was a stranger and knew nothing about it.

  2. Hidden treasure.
    About ninety years ago there were excavations in the abbey and castle in Adare. While doing this they used to dig trenches in different directions. Two men were working together at each trench, one man hack and the other shovelling. As they were doing it one man noticed a soft part in the side of the trench and decided to hack it out and when he did he found some valuable treasures of gold
