    when they are cross. Often then men are beaten by the women and they cause great rows in the streets. They pawn their clothes on Monday morning and release them on Saturday night.

  2. Travelling people still call to houses in this district but they are few in number in comparison to former years when two or three a day used call but now only two or three a month call to us. The biggest band are Hogans. They trade in everything from a horse to a tin can. They also trade in mats, baskets and ware and they are not a very pleasant company if they are refused for anything.
    They travel in spring cars and make up camps for the night in a lonely place if there is no old house convenient. They visit a lot of fairs.
