    hanged, they were brought up to the top of the castle and a rope tied around their necks. Then the rope was looped around a big strong pole & they were left hang down for about two hours. As you go inside the door you can see a big stone over the place where a woman was hanged.

  2. In the townland of Castlemartyr a ruined tower can still be seen. it was used for keeping prisoners. The prisoners were then taken up to the castle, where their bodies were burned were burned with lime in a dungeon. There is a portion of another tower near the graveyard of Ballyuachtara where a lot of swords and guns were kept. There were many big boilers out in the open air, in which old horses or sheep or any other animal that died, were boiled for the prisoners.
