    'Twas on a Summers Sunday in the blooming month of June,
    As I rambled along that valley close by the hills of Cule,
    I heard a lovely echo of a voice both keen and bright,
    It was the priest of old Castlelyons demanding Irish rights.

    Surrounded by his parishioners that day at Culegown,
    With fiery accents he denounced Mac Gozilin & Brown,
    "Be true to one another, stand firm side by side,
    And we will hunt the alien from the valley of the Bride
    III
    We had brave Fr Ferris, he was true to Ireland's cause,
    His celtic blood would not submit to Balfour & his laws.
    With bayonets fixed they marched him out his mansion left in ruins,
    He dwelt within a lonely hut surrounded by the tombs.
