  1. Long ago there lived in the parish of Castlemartyr a great giant. It is said that when the giant died lots of treasures were buried with him near the Castlemartyr castle. Some years after two men went digging for the riches. When they were digging for a while one of the men struck himself with the pickaxe so they gave it up. They said after it was the power of the giant that made him strike himself.
