  2. In the townland of Castlemartyr a ruined tower can still be seen. it was used for keeping prisoners. The prisoners were then taken up to the castle, where their bodies were burned were burned with lime in a dungeon. There is a portion of another tower near the graveyard of Ballyuachtara where a lot of swords and guns were kept. There were many big boilers out in the open air, in which old horses or sheep or any other animal that died, were boiled for the prisoners.
