    master used to get four pence a week. In olden times they used to make candles out of rushes. First they used to cut the rushes and bring them in and peel them and dry them. The leave one stripp to keep it strong. Then they would dip them in grease and then they were ready for use. In olden times they had no ploughs. They used to till the ground with spades.
    There is a lime kil in Mr Donley's field. It is only a few years since it was working. There is another in Mr Doyle's field and another in Mr Moores field.
