  1. There was two girls in a house one time and a servant. She had poor clothes and had to do all the hard work about the house. The others used to dress themselves up and go to dances every night. One day the prince gave a great dance and all the ladies around were invited. The two ladies spent the whole evening doing themselves up for the great night. The poor girl said that she would like to go to the dance. The two girls laughed at her and said where would the like of her be going. When the two ladies had gone to the dance she sat down and began to cry. An old lady stood there and said What is the matter". She said that she could go but she would have to leave before the clock would strike twelve.
