    the "bull - field". It is called the bull - field because a bull used to be tied in it long ago.
    There is another field in Tolerton called the "Bush - field". It got its name from a bush which grew in it. This bush is said to have been a "lone" bush. Long ago a man cut this bush and after he had cut it he lost the use of his arm.
    There is a field in the Strand called the "Kiln - field". It is called the "kiln - field" because there is a lime - kiln in it. Long ago people used to throw a ball of wool down to the bottom of the kiln on Hallow - Eve. They
