times it was the custom for wives to sit on horses with their husbands. People say that it is very unlucky for a person to be married on Shrove-Tuesday. It is thought that if the sun is shining on the morning of the marriage that it is the sign of the couple getting on very well. If it is raining on the morning on which the pair are to be married people say that it is a sign of the pair getting on very badly. People enjoyed themselves very well at weddings during olden times.
