    There were no copies or pens used in that time only slates and pencils. There were only three subjects taught, English, Irish, and Arithmetic.
    There was a hedge-school in William Gallivan's field in lower Tonevane, The master used to live in the house in that farm. There was another one in Thade Hurley's field in Upper Tonevane.
    Very few books were used because they were scarce.

  2. Long ago there were times called the penal times. If the English caught any priest saying Mass they would cut off his head and put a price on it. The English were trying to catch them.
    One day as a priest was saying Mass on the top of a hill the English caught him. The priest name was Father Murphy, and he excaped on that day. But on another day as he was on horse-back he slipped and fell. The caught him and cut off his head and his left arm
