One night there was a great thunder storm in the year 1927. It caused much damage and lightening appeared in the sky. The people were terrified lest something should happen. In the morning a man named John Galvin found two cocks of hay burned by the lightening and two cows belonging to Bernard Brady were also killed by the lightening. - Before the school was built in Riverstown there was a school in the townland of Ross. It stood on the old fort near the bridge. The teacher whose name was Mr. Downs, was said to be a good teacher.
