    but the man set traps for them and sometimes they shoot them. A good price is paid for the skin because the government is glad to see the country being rid of these pests.

  2. Rats are another source of trouble to the farmers in this place. They get into the stacks of oats and it is amazing how much oats they destroy.
    They are also able to bore potatoe pits and often in the morning a man gets a whole bucket full scattered about and half eaten.
    Turnips are also attacked by them and scooped.
    Cats kill some of these rats and poison is used on them also.
