  1. The Galgoram - a small vessel which was coming with a load of coal from England to Sligo lost its way in a snow fog and was wrecked near Dromore in Lucy bay. Its crew consisted of eight men, all natives of Sligo and Rosses Point. Six of them wer drowned and two survivied.
    Here is the song that the people sing to remind us of the sad tragedy. It was composed by Martin Waters who was reared in Derrylihan and he lived at that time in Holborn Street, Sligo.

    Come all ye sympathisers and listen to my song,
    On the melancholy subject, it won't detain you long,
    It's concerning the calamity that befell this gallant ship,
    The ill-fated Galgoram on her last and fatal trip,
    The crew when last she started was comprised of eight all told,
    Undaunted and courageous men,
