- 1. Here in this townland of Derrylihan a short distance from our school is a holy well. It is situated in Mrs. Chrystals field. St Patrick's well it is called.The old people say, that when St Patrick was going to Lough Derg he rested at this well for a while and blessed it.The track of one of his knees is marked out on one stone, and the track of his fingers on another.At the back of the well is a big cairn and it is supposed that some great person is buried there.A few yards away are the ruins of an old church beside which is an old graveyard. Fine stones are to be seen there, some with holes as if used as Holy water Fonts. No one would take any of the stones away. "It is not right."2 There is a holy well in Moneygold in Kerrigan's field. St Molash's well it is called. A great many people go to it to do stations especially round St Colmcilles day. The Rosary is said. It is(continues on next page)
