  1. 1. Denis Cawley of Streedagh was a great worker with rods. He used to make creels, baskets, and puckages or giurogs
    The puckage or hen's nest was either one, two or three feet long according to the size required. It was made of plaited straw. It had a hood overhead and was closed all round except for one little window or hole where the hens could go in and out. There was no fear of the egg to fall out. Hanging on the wall this puckage was.
    2. Creel making. Pat Currid of Grange Sligo was a great creel maker.
    3 Thatching. Paddy Gillen of Cashel, Grange, Sligo. and Michael McSharry of Miltown, Drumcliff, Sligo. were famous thatchers.
    4 Rope making was carried on greatly round here long ago. The women usually made the ropes but now and then on a wet day the men made
