   There was an old school in Coolaclarig in Jack Scanlan's land. There used be a fair share of scholars going there. The school master's name was Scanlan. There was an old school in Derry and a lot of scholars used attend that school. The school master's name was Nicholas Costello. There used to be a school in Dick Molyneaux's house and the school master's name was Denis Dillane he was well liked by all the scholars. There was a school in Tom Sullivan's house and the school master's name was Scanlan. There was another school master by the name of Con Mc Auliffe he used to teach in these schools and another one named Bochul Stack. Charlie Quirk was another one. The teachers used to go to one scholar's house one night to another one's another night. Wherever they would go they would get their supper and breakfast. They used to be paid by the scholar's parents. They used be paid every month according to the number of children they would have going to school. They used have copies for writing on and slates for doing sums on. They used also have Catechism.
