where the table was laid ready for breakfast. It was Friday morning and when the priest uncovered the dish in front of him, there for his breakfast lay two cooked chickens. The priest replaced the cover - cut the sign of the cross over it - put on his stole and said some prayers. Then he lifted the cover again. Out of the dish sprang the two chickens and in their place lay two beautiful Gillaroe. The chickens rushed out of the room, out through the hall door, and ran "sgraclin" down to the lake. They rushed into the water and ever since the "gillaroe" is found in Lough Melvin.
The gillaroe has a heart liver and gizzard.
