    Lá amháin bhí Gobán Saor agus a mhac ag siúbhal an bóthair. Bhí turas fada le siúbhal aca. Dubhairt Gobán Saor leis an mac "giorruigh an bóthar a mhic". Thosuigh an mach ag rith. Dubhairt Gobán Saor leis "mo léun thú a mhic." Nuair tháinic siad abhaile trathnóna. Dubhairt mac Gobháin Saor le n-a mháthair. D'iarr mo athair orm indiú an bóthar a ghiorrúghadh, Thosuigh mé ag rith, ach ní raibh sé sásta liom." Dubhairt an mháthair leis "nuair a déarfas d'athair leat an bóthar a ghiorrúghadh arís tosuigh ag innseacht scéal dó.
